Cleaning the dresser...Part ll

 Cleaning

I personally like to use Denatured alcohol to clean the inside and outside on any piece of furniture that I purchase.

Why?

It's alcohol.... It cleans up any ooogies and grime that has

accumulated on the dresser....do wear gloves, especially if your

nails are manicured!!

Repair

I like to use wood filler where needed.

 Glue any pieces of wood that needs repaired with Tightbond glue, my all time favorite wood glue!

I wait a couple of days for the wood filler to dry

before sanding.

The next step is cutting some wood for the drawer guides

and that is where my handy dandy hubby comes in.

These are the steps and products that I use for MY furniture. I am not claiming to be an expert, everyone has their own style, this one is mine.

Just Say No!

Why can't I pass up on a beautiful piece of vintage furniture?

Especially one that need severe TLC???

Friends of mine owned this beauty and when they realized the repairs that needed to be done, they sold it to me!!

Yea, I hear what you're thinking....

 Because I thought the same thing!!

Just Say No to more projects!!!

Say NO especially if they involve hubby doing some of the repairs!!!

BUT how could I pass up on this beauty? 

Shhhh, please don't tell anyone but I am a sucker for Art Deco!

 I fall for those flirty lines and curvy  sides every time...

I was going to take a picture of the whole intact dresser but

As I pulled out the drawers some of the drawer guides were

coming apart and now I can't put the drawers back in.😕

The cleaning process begins today....stay tuned!

We have several collections going on in our house...

I say we because my husband John recently started

collecting vintage guitars. 

Here are a few collections that my heart go pitter patter...

Vintage Chintz dishes...

I have these hanging in my bedroom wall.

Beings that I am the only female in our home,

anything girly like these sweet little ballerinas...

OK these dishes are not so girly but they are blue!

Yes, love them blue and white dishes especially 

these ones!!

Also hanging on my wall but in the living room.

Another great find was this plastic (Lucite?) mosaic table top...

Furniture

It was a good week,

 we sold and bought new furniture! 

This pretty coastal table is now for sale and has a cute leaf insert.

Another cute hutch that sold was this beauty!

VV is honored to have Mike the light man in the house, he creates these amazing light fixtures!

Love!! We have a new dealer that loves to re purpose

these amazing pieces of furniture. Oh and he made that awesome metal chair, industrial for sure!

Extravaganza

Well John and I made it to The Renningers Antique Extravaganza on Friday. Here are a few photos that I took when I remembered to take photos..haha

We did manage to fill the truck with treasures that you will

Vintage hutch

This cute little hutch is finished!

I used my favorite paint and products...

Vintage Market & Design® Furniture Paint.

The outside is painted in the color Sage,

waxed with a Clear wax and

sealed with Clear Cote.

I decided to give the inside a cute fun look!

So I decoupaged some cute French paper with 

Vintage Market & Design® Furniture Paint

Paper It! 

and clear waxed and sealed with Clear Cote.

The measurements are

Lions head rocking chair

We have some awesome dealers that bring in some amazing treasures! Check out this blue and white primitive looking drop leaf table!!

Hecka cool!

Another treasure that came in is this Lion head late 1800's rocker. It was reupholstered back in the 1970's

Very sturdy and in great shape.

The detail is amazing!!!

Pickin' on Monday

Today, Monday is my day off! I spent some time running errands but mostly did some pickin' for VV. I found some really cool treasures which you will see in the shop soon!

Look at this beauty that came home with me! 

I love, love, love art deco furniture and if you

have ever visited the warehouse you will see that we have

a wide selection of these beautiful pieces of furniture!

Not to paint!!

There is no way I would paint this vintage piece of art....

I know someone out in vintage land will love this dresser as is!

I wish you could see the Burl wood up close, it speaks classic beauty, true art, true craftsmanship!

We are very excited to start the New Year with a bang, lots of
