Dresser is done!

Wooohooo!
John finished the dresser and it looks amazing!
After much muttering and cussing, hammering...more cussing, and cutting we have determined that the dresser is called SOB! Haha.
Sorry, I don't have pictures of the insides but if you go here https://plus.google.com/+avintagevenue/posts

You can see more pics.
.

Looks beautiful doesn't it??
After the much needed work we put in we should be pricing the
SOB for $500.00! But as some of you know it doesn't work
out that way!!!!

A new dresser came in last night!
Beautiful 1930's Art Deco dresser in great condition.
$225.00....321.271.1053

A short post...I am in the early stages of a cold and
my body is aching!

Dresser, part 3

Part III

The dresser has been painted!
I used Vintage Market & Design Furniture Paint,
Waxed with Clear wax and sealed with Clear Cote.

John started working on the insides today, we are
hoping to be done before Friday.

One of our dealers did an amazing job on this dresser, he actually carved grooves all over the dresser to give it that pallet look!

Random photo of VV....

I am not sure if the video is going to play but it is a video of a pair of Vintage shabby chic cupboards.

Stay tuned for the finished dresser project.

Cleaning the dresser...Part ll

 Cleaning

I personally like to use Denatured alcohol to clean the inside and outside on any piece of furniture that I purchase.
Why?
It's alcohol.... It cleans up any ooogies and grime that has
accumulated on the dresser....do wear gloves, especially if your
nails are manicured!!

Repair

I like to use wood filler where needed.
Glue any pieces of wood that needs repaired with Tightbond glue, my all time favorite wood glue!

I wait a couple of days for the wood filler to dry
before sanding.

The next step is cutting some wood for the drawer guides
and that is where my handy dandy hubby comes in.

These are the steps and products that I use for MY furniture. I am not claiming to be an expert, everyone has their own style, this one is mine.

Just Say No!

Why can't I pass up on a beautiful piece of vintage furniture?
Especially one that need severe TLC???
Friends of mine owned this beauty and when they realized the repairs that needed to be done, they sold it to me!!

Yea, I hear what you're thinking....
Because I thought the same thing!!
Just Say No to more projects!!!
Say NO especially if they involve hubby doing some of the repairs!!!

BUT how could I pass up on this beauty?
Shhhh, please don't tell anyone but I am a sucker for Art Deco!
I fall for those flirty lines and curvy  sides every time...
I was going to take a picture of the whole intact dresser but
As I pulled out the drawers some of the drawer guides were
coming apart and now I can't put the drawers back in.😕

The cleaning process begins today....stay tuned!
